Is it smart to quote a BIN price in an auction

I was thinking, what if bidding wiped it out, and then met the BIN price... would people think that they could get it cheaper, knowing that you were willing to sell at $x, or would they just keep on bidding? Hopefully an auciton of mine will surpass BIN... for some reason auctions ending after it are twice as much (item is brand new, not a coin, and no difference; same photos in the description, nearly identical title, same s/h, and lower start price... hmmm.... better hope it goes up soon image)

Your thoughts?

  • I have seen bids exceed BIN many times. If I want a coin bad enough and BIN is reasonable I will bite. I suspect those that bid much higher than a BIN didn't know there was a BIN offered. Once reserve or min. bid is met BIN dissapears even from the main page.

I agree with my twin brother.

I needed an Ike for my type set and one was listed for $124.95 with BIN of $150. Being cheap I bid $125 and wound up having to pay $160.image

I had a buyer "deactivate" a bunch of my BINs with 1¢ bids. One was for a SBA with a BIN of $149. The person who deactivated the BIN ended up paying $202.50 for the coin. He also purchased another coin for a few dollars higher than the BIN.
