1918 Lincoln Cent???

I have a circulated 1918 Lincoln cent in about VG condition. It looks to have a flag just to the upper right side of the 8 in the date. This looks similar to the 1858/7. Could this be an 1918/7 Lincoln? It maybe just a well placed tick mark. I am going to look at it under my microscope tonight. I will give you all an update tomorrow! HAS anyone heard of an overdate on a Lincoln cent???????

There is some controversy on whether is a real overdate or not though.

I thought they proved thru overlay photos that the 1958/7 was just a die crack! I cant rememeber where I got that piece of info??

  • Maybe that's why it sticks in my mind there's some controversy concerning it. You could be right, and it most likely is a die break.
I know Walter Breen considered it an overdate, but there's been much learned in the last few years.
