Much to my surprise the teller suggested that they'd start being available
in a few weeks when the collectors started spending the ones which were
marred in some way. Is it really becoming common knowledge that better
grade coins are more desirable? I just wanted one for my collection but
this was much better. The hole in my set can wait.

Surely these coins aren't all or mostly all being sorted before enterring cir-
culation! Are they?

That's what I do. Buy a bunch of mint rolls from the bank, sort out the MS66 & UP. Scratch up the rest of them just in case I undergraded.... No just kiding on that last one. No I would venture to say that maybe 5% of the rolls get searched in my area.
