Moderate frosted 1942 T1 PF Jefferson.......

Hi everyone
Just got this one in the mail today. I'm very happy with it. Thought to share it with you.
Check out the pics. The top is in incandescent, the bottom in florescent light.
Thank you Jeff Werlin of JWCAMEO.

  • Nice coin you have there. Is that for a Jefferson Proof Set or a Year Proof set?

Thanks for the nice comment. All the devices are nicely frosted but the fields are only moderately reflective and would not be considered as deep or black fields. The fields have more of the satiny finish
look. I do have another with deeper fields and greater contrast. The 1950 proof can be found with both types of finishes. I don't know if that's true with the other 1950 proof denominations. I imagine it would be. I collect the entire Jefferon nickel series, the proofs, the business, varieties and errors more so if they have full steps.
Let me know what you collect.

  • Nice coin Leo. I have a proof Jefferson collection though I am now working on type coins only.

    Thanks Carl
You are one of my Superiors or Imperials as they say along with Corso as your collections are light years ahead of mine.
My other set are the types also. Let me relate a story while searching for a Fine + detailed 1798 large cent.
I was as particular 13 years ago as I am today about the quality of coins I add to my collection. But there was a seller by the name of Tom Reynolds who specialized in large cents. For two years while attending the major shows in the Midwest I would stop and visit with Tom. We would discuss what I was searching for and how much I wanted to spend until one day, walking up to his table, he had it out before I got there as he must of seen me coming. He was very knowledgeable in his field and very helpful. It was a certain variety that I don’t know off-hand but he said there were less then 200 minted. I was pleased with it, bought it and thanked him. It’s important to locate those coins with as much detail as possible. As we know, anything with less then a full strike is considered a “misnomer.” It was shortly after that when I took off with the full step Jefferson’s nickels. So it's been awhile since I've done anything with the types.

  • Leo:

Very nice addition to your set. I'm still looking for 1938 - 1942 CAM / DCAMs.

  • Leo- I'm in the latter stages of a Roosevelt proof set, and am getting started on a Jefferson proof set. There are a number of cameos I'm eyeing on ebay. I only collect modern proofs cameos, if possible. I'm also putting together a raw type set.

I haven't gotten any 38-42 Jeffs yet, but a nice frosted one, if possible, is the way to go. Any cameo designation with PCGS is near impossible, probably because of the lack of mirrored fields. But, I haven't studied these years in so much detail yet.

  • I may have a few nice Jeffs, but I'm nobody's superior. That particular Jeff is probably nicer than my T1. Thanks for the neat story. You must have a nice collection.
