1971 PSA 9 Reggie

I know that it has been discussed in parts of other threads, but this auction deserves its own thread...

Any guesses to the final hammer? Whats the highest recorded sale of a single 1971 card?

Final hammer on this one is already higher on the 1st PSA 9 that was graded. (I think that one sold for $3,200, but don't quote me).

I think the highest recorded sale is approximately $17,500 paid by Goodwin for the 1971 Pete Rose PSA 9.

I think the PSA 10 (plural? not sure if there is two) of Aaron went for close to $8,000, but I'm not sure on that one.

On December 16, 1999, Superior Sports sold a PSA 9 of Willie Mays for $5,980. Goodwin also had a PSA 9 of Mays that sold for over $5,000.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
  • It all depends, I’ve heard Reggie himself owned all his rookie 9's at some point. Mr. October just might have this one on his ebay’s “Items I’m Watching” list, waiting to hammer it in the bottom of the 9th. Good Luck to Doc on this one. image
  • That's definitely a sweet card! Good luck to Steve. I wonder if Reggie buys through a third party if he bids on his cards?

I had to send him a congratulatory email earlier in the day when I saw it. But, I'm betting that the final hammer price is $3551. I don't think that anyone else is going to bump the current price and the only crazy 71 set collector already has his!!! image

  • Boy, I hate selling this card....but the price so far is making it a little easier. I'm with Frank on this one...I think it ends where its at, which is fine by me. But I wouldn't mind being wrong either.

On a side note, anyone else headed to Ft. Washington? Frank B. is buying dinner for everyone.

    Hey-

Is there much going on there on Friday night? I would love to be there on Saturday and Sunday, but I will be participating in a 2-day, 150 mile bike race to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis.

I must be really committed to give up going to the Ft. Washington show! But I'm hoping there might be an opportunity to go Friday evening....

Steve, count me in on the big dinner feast courtesy of Frank. I'll be at the Fort as usual, and will probably bump into you looking for those '65's & '66's again...jay

I heard that a PSA 9 Rose went for $15,000...

  • Steve, Congratulations on the Jackson! Beautiful card!

And his 71 PSA 8 Rose went for $648!

The only downside for me was that Herbetizer didn't win. If he had won, he'd have had that much less cash to buy 72's!!! So, I was rooting for him all the way!
