Very nice. I haven't checked my invoice yet. The blue Jeff is a fun coin, and I'm sending all my color in on the next submission. I'll post a pic when I get them all together. I'm still missing a solid red. image

    Don,

I checked yours. It wasn't done yet. Don't you have some nice Washingtons on that one?

Yeah Russ, two 64s and a 63 that may dcam, at least that's what I remember. I mailed them a month ago. What the heck though, they've waited 38 years to meet plastic, one or two more days won't matter.image

Nice job Russ, just don't leave the Jefferson in a hot car... Did you send it in the cello wrap or did you clip it out???
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

    Marty,

It was clipped out. That's why I was a bit worried; thought they might bag it.

Those Blue toned Jeffersons are sure pretty coins. I'm drawn to them in Dealers cases and although I own plenty to go around, still find myself buying more!
The darker (yet still BRIGHT) the BLUE, the better.
I also like when they take on a shade of Purple.

  • Russ, I've got a question about the toning on that Jefferson. Well, first of all... it's absolutely gorgeous! But, anyway... those reddish areas on the high spots... if left exposed so that it would continue to tone, would those areas grow, or is the blue overtaking the red?

    Clark,

They're not actually reddish, just breaks in the blue that the lighting made look reddish.

Also, I just realized something. The coin in the pic is not the one I sent in. The one that just got graded has no breaks in the blue anywhere. The one above is actually still here, saved for another forum member.

Russ, my numbers are up and it looks like they liked the 64 quarters pretty well. They didn't care for the 63 and I remember it as being more cam than both 64s. I hope it didn't go ugly in the process. The toned Jeff did great. They 64 halves I like alot better than they do, and I'll put pics up of them when they get home and see if you can detect any cameo on them, or find the marks that forced them to PR67. To be three totally unique coins, it sure amazes me that they all were pr67 no cams. Maybe the grader voted for Nixon.image

  • Nice coin Russ if you are into toned coins. Was it blue in the cello pack? From what i remember about nickel, it would seem easy to produce a blue jeff simply by heating in an excess of oxygen. I suppose this would be a cardinal sin but would it be detectable? Hmmmm coin experiment number 2.
Looks like overall pretty descent grades on the submission. congrats.
  • Thanks, Russ, the wifey was impressed. Feel proud, you're only the second man in the last two years to do that!!!!!!

I warned you, Russ, but you paid no heed. A JFK man should not go meddlin' in a Jeff man's affairs. I too, have a 66 from the '60s I recently made ... (Forgive the hair on the scan (as well as the lousy scan itself) ... could it be? Oh my gosh, I'm becoming George Kostanza in my middle age, shedding the remnants of a once great civilization of hair!) image Love the blue, but once Jeff proofs gain that great color, a lot of them tend to shed some luster.

    RGL,

I'll trade you a pretty blue Jefferson for that.image
