My First PCGS Submission and Predictions

So it's my turn to make a fool of myself, I sent in my four freebies last Wendsday. Invoice # 3084782, hasn't arrived yet, but here are my predictions:

1999-W $10 Proof PF69DCAM (still in mint holder, looks 70 to me, but didn't wanna get my hope up)
1999 $25 Unc MS68 (soaked in acetone to remove cardboard flecks stuck to the surface, thanks to DayMount 2x2's)
1983-S Olympic $1 PF68DCAM (never dipped, though probably should have for a shot at 69)
1984-S Olympic $1 PF68DCAM (same comment as above, both coins came from same two piece mint set)

I was going to use my freebies for crossovers, when I called prior to signup they said I could... but when kit arrived min grade column was missing from freebie form, so I called again. Apparently some legal boolsheet on the back made a separate form necessary and, not wanting to get my coins returned ungraded for something stupid like the law, I sent in raw ones instead (NGC crossovers to follow on second submission, or maybe third, have some cherrypicked prestige sets I might send in second.) Anyways, chick with hot voice said they'd spit my submission if I didn't do it right (her sexy voice had already made me somewhat submissive, so I didn't argue about being initially mislead, hehe.) We'll see what happens next (wonder if she's married image )

I see a body bag marked "cleaned" on that one imageimage
My dealer never dips coins anymore, he just air blows any dust flecks
and leaves all toned coins the way they are.
    Say no to ACG!!!!!!!!!!!!

compressed air comes out cold and causes water in the air to condense on the surface, which makes for some nice spots. The pieces of cardboard were stuck to the surface with glue from the inside of the friggin DayMount holder I used (never again,) so no other way to remove it. Besides, acetone does not remove toning and the coin is gold. Doubt seriously they'll ever know anything was done to it (unless, of course, a grader actually reads this thread.)

Acetone doesn't affect a metal's surface and is an acceptable technique. I've had several acetoned coins go through without a problem. One had lots of early pvc damage which was taken away and made the coin slabworthy. Though I got the dreaded AU-58. image

Acetone is also a better way of drying coins that have water on them. Water dissolved very quickly inside of acetone. And acetone dries within a minute.

what's up with Neil's tag line BTW, looks Greek to me image but for some reason I found myself in a trance chanting kyrie eleison, kyrie eleison, kyrie eleison.

Russ, I knew I couldn't be the only one image

Yep, it is indeed Greek! I wish they would let us use font tags, though.

Neil's tag line is verse from Romans 8 in original greek form. I believe it is the interdiction?

It reads literally "There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, for the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death."image

Well, I must say I'm tickled pink... just realised three of the four are pop tops with none graded higher. In all fairness, I adjusted my grades one point lower (as you can see on the first prediction... that's why I left message unedited.) I just assumed PCGS would grade moderns one point lower than I would. If I had been sending them anywhere else would have said a 70 and three 69's. In any case, though didn't get the elusive pop 1 none higher, I can't say anything negative about the results. They weren't brutal or generous, seems like a fair roll of the dice to me image

Right on, Don! Wouldn't mind getting to use Greek fonts, though...
