Has anyone tried the "Premier Service" from GAI? If so, what are your thoughts? Does anyone know of new "bells and whistles" from PSA in response to the GAI movement?
Sincerely,
Ron

Yet another example of PSA being reactive as opposed to being proactive.
Not bashing, just pointing out the mechanisms

Do you have a link to GAI site? I would like to read about their "Premier Service".
Thanks

The GAI website is: GAI Website
I am unable to create a link to the Premier service per se. Go to "grading services" on the website and click on details within the Global Premier Membership section.
I would add that until I hear some substantial experiences with this service, I will wait to see if PSA will begin grading or at least authenticating packs. Furthermore, the conversion of slabbed PSA cards to nicer PSA holders would be a service I would pay to have. My two cents.

Ron,
Stupid as this may sound, I initially picked PSA as my preference for graded cards, solely because of their holders. I like the simple design of the label and the holder, that allows the card to stand out. I've never cared for the shiny labels or black bordered holders. But that's just me.
Does GAI offer different colored holders? I would think that a 1971 Topps card would look pretty lousy in a black holder.

Currently collecting.....your guess is as good as mine.
Here is what they are referring to as primier service:

I have a feeling Global is able to offer these services because they are slow enough to do it. Will it still be available when traffic picks up?

if i am reading this correctly the service is available to premier members.i believe it costs 70 dollars to be a global premier member. i am not sure if that is yearly or a one time fee?

I'm not sure about the fee either. I agree with the comments regarding the encapsulation of 1971 Topps in black bordered holders. This would not be the most ideal holder for that issue. GAI has a ways to go before it can be regarded as an industry competitor. I'm hopeful that PSA does not rest on its laurels and continues to explore other market opportunites to support its business objectives. I believe that improvements in its vintage card grading sector can be made without compromising the validity/quality of the past.
