Speaking of AT'd coins, what ever happened to those guys?

You remember them. They had the cases full of AT'd coins that all looked alike. I haven't seen them in quite a while at any of the major shows.

Who was that anyway? Katz coins?

There's nothing illegal about artificially toning a coin. In fact, it would do the hobby a service if one of these chemists would come clean and publish a book.

I'm not sure about illegal but it is unethical at least according to ANA bylaws.

My cousin is a Doctor of Chemistry and we've talked about this toning stuff and his opinion is (to paraphrase)

"Isn't that illegal? if it's NOT illegal it just seems morally wrong to intentionally deceive people"

    no AT for me image

I'm no lawyer but think that it would be considered fraud to represent a toned coin as original when you knew full well that it was artifically toned. At a minimum, it would be lower than snake crap in a wagon track.

That in my opinion would be about as low as something could get. Bearimage

    Doctor of Chemistry??
Then he has a D.C. after his name?
Seems like I've heard of him. His name Washington, by any chance?
    Washington D.C. ? Rings a bell.

Like the ANA bylaws mean anything? If they did then the ANA board of directors would actually follow them.
