Free gift from Ebay for reaching 1000 unique positive feedbacks

A few months ago I reached 1000 positve feedbacks which I am actually pretty proud of. It takes an incredible amount of work and I did it without any negatives. Ebay sent me a message that in light of this great accomplishment they want to send me a free gift. Almost didn't do it but figured it would be good for a laugh. This is what they sent:

1) A cheap plastic red star pin
2) A certificate. It was printed on heavier than normal paper so I have to give them credit there.
3) A letter auto pen signed by Meg Whitman. I do sleep with this under my pillow!!!!!
Cmon Ebay. If I made what they made off a customer I'd at least send a fruit basket or a box of nuts. I love ebay and about 1/3 of my income comes off stuff I sell on it but this is a complete joke. Had to cost more to mail than the items. What a chickensh*t company.

Be glad they recognized your accomplishment, as they didn't have to send anything. It's not like you didn't make money off your dealings through Ebay. If you didn't make money, you wouldn't be doing it.

"What a chickensh*t company." If you really feel that way, why do you deal with them?

  • EBAY is the single best thing that ever happened to collectors and small businesses in this country. They are easily the best site on the web.

Perhaps they could have sent you a better trinket gift, but lets get real! :-)

  • Ebay may not be the best thing that ever happened to a smal business. I have sold a bunch of stuff on ebay including some items as far away as south africa. But ebay has changed the market forever in ways that i have yet to overcome. One example is 5 years ago i could buy a 60 quart hobart mixer for 1500.00 and sell it for 5000.00. Those were the good old days! The nationwide market for this item on ebay is about 2500.00. Nobody wants to sell to me for 1500 or buy from me for 5000. It is way more difficult to move items regionally form areas of excess to areas of need as an independent now that ebay does it for everybody.
