Another toning question.

When you look at a toned coin do you also consider the pattern of the toning when you judge eye appeal?

I do.

To me the two rely on each other.

    You bet !!

Moderate rim tone is very pretty and has high eye appeal for myself. Totally toned coins with outstanding luster underneath are some what cool also but nothing like the moderate rim toned coins.

I think periph or bullseye is the prettiest but if I buy a toned coin it's more apt to be a weird or unusual pattern. Something that's different.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
  • I think the colors attract me first, but a nice pattern or blending or fading from one color to the next is a key for me. As long as the coin doesn't jump out as AT then I will probably purchase it even if it's been enhanced a little bitimage

Here is an example of a great coin with questionable toning that I wouldn't touch!!!!
