John Smoltz gets save #49 -- 9 away from the All-Time record

Smoltz just got save #49 and is on his way for the NL record (Myers in 1993 who had 53 saves) and on his way to the major league record as well which is held by Bobby Thigpen who saved 57 in 1987 with the White Sox. John saved all 6 games won by the Braves on the road trip.

This is amazing considering Smoltz used to be (and probably still could) a dominant starter. He won 24 games in 1996 and won the Cy Young award that year. He's had many awesome seasons as a starter along with many wins...and him to do this as a closer is just remarkable.
