I'm going to be going through hundreds of Jefferson nickels from rolls that I have put away. I figure now's as good a time as any. I need FULL concentration to sift through these ugly son of a guns
Any tips on roll sifting? This isn't quite my cup of tea. I'm looking for FULL PILLAR DETAIL, correct?

The more qualities observed in a coin, the more desirable that coin becomes!

i've looked through some jeff's just yesterday. the local shop owner does a thing where he breaks apart mint sets and stuff and puts 'em in 2X2's in bins. i'd say there were about 500-1000 i looked at and i picked out around 30 that i'll go look at today and take the best ones. unless you've looked through a lotta nickels it's hard to appreciate a nice clean FS coin. if the steps aren't full or all banged up the portrait on the other side is usually pretty bad. i've yet to find a coin that grades 66FS any farther back than 1985. but i like lookin' just the same and keeping the best-of-the-best. i've heard mention of the souvenir sets having better quality coins but those seem to be few and far between. let us know what you find.
