PCGS Order Status for Invoice # 340767
Your shipment was received on 07/25/2002. Further processing is pending.
20 Coins - $300 in fees and 30 business days is Wed next week. On the 37th day right now and cust svc still says they are in grading and have been since the 25th of July. Anyone else having submissions taking this long right now?

I've PM'd him to ask what level of service he choose. Until I read your post, I was wondering if I was being slighted.

<< <i>That's why it's called economy! >>
If you want the cheap grading you have to wait the time. You want a wait, try ANACS economy service, over 2 months!!!
are you guys in a hurry to get the coins back for any particular reason??

Don,
Yeah, I know, I've been checking yours every day too. You mentioned it in a thread a few days ago.

That's like asking why a steak lover stranded on an island of vegetarians for a year would be in a hurry to get to Sizzler when he got rescued.

i'm not a lot different than anyone else, i tend to want stuff done yesterday, also. my point of view is just a reflection of all the posting having to do with sneezing, fingerprints, under/over grading and all the others. i think the reality is that it can't be both ways-----rocket turn around times with error free results. i'd take a bit slower return of my coins if they were done with more care and attention and if i needed to have it both ways i would pay the extra fee. so far i haven't chosen to do the latter. i can't think of any reason to pay for a one day grade unless the coin is raw with a return policy or valuable enough to warrant the grading such as in a crossover from an auction or something. the same with other increase fee quick times. then again, i'm retro-minded so slowness doesn't bug me enough to pay for speed.

When a customer calls asking about an order, which is a better answer?
1. "Gee Mr. ...., economy seems to be taking the full 30 days right now."
2. "Well you sent it economy."

I apologize for that answer. You can be sure that I will take care of it.
Please PM me if you know the name of the rep.
I have looked at all of the submission numbers that have been posted here. I do see some movement on all of them with in the last two days. I will keep an eye on them.

Thank you for responding. The young lady who spoke with me on the 28th about my invoice said "You did send it economy!" also. It shouldn't bother me at all, because she's right, but it did make me feel like I shouldn't have called.

Here is what I would like to see PCGS do that would improve the "apparent speed" of a submission, even if it weren't any faster.
They are tracking all of the coins currently being graded, correct? Why not then have a status that changes more often. For example, they should be able to on their website list at least approx the number of days till the coins will hit the grading room (maybe even count down the orders in front of your order), update when the coins are actually being graded, update when the coins are being slabbed, etc. There should be no reason your coins should sit around that they can't explain why they are sitting around. They just have to get their website to work with their internal systems and submissions would appear to be faster, because there would be more status information. This is often done for example when loading software or something else that people don't like waiting for. Some graphics or sounds are loaded ahead to make the overall load appear shorter.

Just a thought...
BTW.. there is no excuse for bad customer service and it sounds like Charlie feels the same...thanks
RonMan
(Ya' think that was enough to get me those PR69 DCAMs?)
Anyway, thanks to PCGS for looking into this and actually responding to our concerns.
Michael

Now if I could only get some GOOD grades on the coins that are there now, I would be very very happy!
picky, picky, picky!!!!!

I bet you don't remember the good old days when there was no economy and the regular submissions took 3-4 MONTHS.
...(This line purposely left blank)...
... and now I'm just waiting on the status.

My PCGS submission, however, was submitted on 8/1 at the ANA and was in CA and recorded as received on 8/6 and still has not been updated even though others, who had their coins received later, have already received their grades.
By the way, these were the same submission tiers that I chose.

Maybe mine were faster because they were crossovers?
6 coins. 4 "crossed".
2 PCGS crossed at the same grade.
1 ICG crossed at 1 grade lower. A rainbow toned GWC.
1 SEGS crossed at 1 grade lower. ANACS said 65 LONG ago, but the coin was hazy. Cracked and dipped it and SEGS said 67. NGC said 66.
2 SEGS failed to cross at any grade. The web site doesn't say why but it was because of AT.
