1932-D Washington quarter - planchet defect?

1932-D 25C

Can anyone see what’s the problem with this quarter?

If a planchet defect is “as struck,” why does this coin need to be net graded? I would think that a planchet defect would qualify as an error, correct?

Thanks,

Dan

I,m guessing, but I would think it wasn`t net graded because of the planchet error but for overall condition.
    Maybe is was lightly cleaned.
BTW ,I can`t see the error on this quarter.Must be pretty minor.
  • A planchet defect can be quite small. Most that I see have a slight seperation that may be hard to see and probably impossible to show on a small picture. It may also have part or the metal that has already fallen off and has toned over it hiding it in the picture.
