Do You Know why new clad designs will never messure up???

low relief. The low relief coins designed for fast minting are why the coins won't look as good.

The original clads were struck with the same relief dies as the last of the silver.
The mint lowered the relief over many years to save money on dies and no one
complained until the last few years. There are no physical or political reasons
that the relief can't be raised back to where it was if the mint comes up with the
money and capacity to do it. -eliminate the cent.

  • how much does a coin stamping machine cost? It shouldn't cost that much reletively for the Mint to add capasity. I don't buy that arguement.

The mint currently has several bottlenecks in their production. Right now their
biggest is in the die shop. They do not currently have the capacity to significantly
increase their die making production. There is also a lack of physical space at both
the Philly and Denver mints right now. The mints just don't have the space to in-
stall a significantly larger number of presses. The cost of the dies and presses is
small compared to the profit the mint makes on coins, but without a realignment
of the coins they make or a new mint facility there will be no large improvement in
the relief or the quality of the coins they produce. There probably are political im-
pediments to the construction of a new mint. Some quality improvements are pro-
bably possible otherwise and would seem to be underway.

that's why they should contract all clad coins out to get colorized. that would really bring out all the attractive deatails.
