a fingerprint question

i've just read one more complaint about modern coins coming back with low grades/haze/fingerprint/you pick a freakin problem and put it here. i haven't submitted much material to pcgs but when i have i've had no problem, (i will admit that i also haven't submitted a whole lot recently, which seems to be when the problems popped up). my question is whether people are getting fingerprints on only modern coins, or if older stuff is coming back with problems. i.e. did the contoversial "64/65/66 dmpl dollar" come back smudgy and hazy (or perhaps with an extra booger) or is it just things like modern proof quarters and halves, you know stuff you actually can still get in pocket change, that comes back dirty. it's kind of a little conspiracy theory cooking in the back of my head that maybe they are getting tired of seeing these things, whether conciously or unconciously, and are trying to send out the message "please send us nice fun old interesting original coinage, not the same old goofy proof sets....."......

just a thought here, no offense intended to any who seriously collect or sell modern coins, just don't remember it happening to older stuff. mostly posting this in self defense as i have some coins i'd like to submit but the more i read the scareder i get. might just have to do like gsaguy and have capital make me some slabs of my own.

Excellent question. The volume of moderns is much higher. Are they sealed by different employees? The guy that puts the booger on my MS66 State Quarter cannot be the guy that seals the $120,000 DCAM Barber Half, can he??
