I just don't understand.

Just got an invoice posted. What a waste of grading dollars. The pickier I get the worse the grades are. But one thing I dont understand, I opened up a 1979 Type 2 proof set and sent them in. This is what they graded...
5 40013794 1979-S 1C Type 2 PR65CA
6 40013795 1979-S 5C Type 2 PR66DC
7 40013796 1979-S 10C Type 2 PR66DC
8 40013797 1979-S 25C Type 2 Not Genuine
9 40013798 1979-S 50C Type 2 PR66DC
10 40013799 1979-S SBA$ Type 2 PR66DC
What I can't figure out is how a counterfit quarter got into a proof set? The proof grades blew chunks, the MS grades weren't bad. If you want to look at a piss poor invoice it's 3046322. It was a sorry day for MY grading skills.

It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

are you forging quarters in your basement again? maybe you sent in one of those clinton quarters by mistake...

I've got to admit that this is one of the primary reasons I trade & collect only raw coins. I have no confidence in any grading service, collect for fun, purchase only what appeals to me, and have a real problem with paying a premium for "slabs".
Just my two cents (for what it's worth).

LEARN THE RULES so that you can break them properly.!!
This seems to get worse and worse. It brings to mind the definition of insanity -- doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.
Submitting to PCGS is beginning to feel like a neurotic nervous tic to me.

When you get the coins back, check the proofs for haze. Every time I've gotten grades much lower then expected, that's what the problem turned out to be.

Russ is right, it's gotta be the haze. The great news is that after a dip and another $75, you can wait to see if you get insulted again. Gotta love it, huh.
BTW - What are you doing sending in fake quarters?
and it sets us apart from practitioners and consultants. Gregor
How can they possibly make a mistake like that?? Does any one there actually look at moderns or are they just dumped into some big machine that spits them out with random grades attached (and of course body bags )?? I just don't understand that one, but hey at least you get to help the post office out more by spending more money on postage to send it back!!
<< <i>Don't bagged coins have to get looked at by someone else before they get sent back? >>
I don't even think someone sees them, forget about else.
I had an NGC MS66 cracked to be bagged as 'reverse wheel damage'??? I wish I knew what that was.
You mean to tell me you sent in a coin with a flat tire and did not even bother to change it first??? Or was the rim just cracked from loose lug nuts??
