What is your favorite proof set packaging?

The current one are pretty cool, but i must admit, i like the ones from the 70's with the black flip open covers. Yes, some are hard to open, and the outer cardboard sleeves come unglued, but i like it!!!

  • No doubt that the most superior packaging was the cellophane and staples used from 1950-1955. What a thrill to learn that your proof coins have "bag marks" from hitting each other in transit.

Without a doubt the cool velvet lined wooden box they used in the 1860's. Kept coins preserved in the days before plastic, soft velvet as not to scratch the coins. Just the boxes alone are worth collecting today. How many folks remove their coins from today's container and sell the used container on ebay?

    Lord -- wonderful response --

my more down to earth response -- I like the early flat packs, when the cellophane was really clear. From 1960 - 1964 (I forget 1959), the flat packs are a bit grayish, and hinder the viewing of the coins,
