Pretty interesting. This does not necessarily refute the fact that the vast majority of individuals inherit their mitochondrial DNA solely from their mothers. However, the finding that paternal mitochondrial DNA was found is astonishing. We can now honestly tell families that inherited mitochondrial disorders are derived from BOTH parents!
