Help Me Grade This Coin

Hi All:
Below are 2 pics of a Unc. 1943-S Lincoln Cent. I keep spinning around on this one because it has 3 "dings" on the reverse and it is throwing me off......I'm thinking MS-60....then I'm thinking, bit it's a nice coin, MS-63.....I'm having a hard time grading coins that have dings, nicks and gauges.....any help would be appreciated....thanks

MS64 I get the feeling it has been cleaned thou but I am just guessing and have looked at very few steel cents.

    Could be a redip.

It could be dipped....I have another 1943-S which has much more luster than this one, near PL, but does have some spotting....thanks for your input....

    Thanks for your input...

As a note, I was going through my "questionable coins" boxes to post on eBay, and came across this one. I guess I'll auction it as "MS-63 - possibly cleaned" Thanks for your input....

never tried myself, so i might be wrong on this, but i believe steel cents cannot be dipped. if i recall, the zinc is extremely reactive w/ any type of acid, and the coin would turn black right away. i'd grade yours ms-61-ish. couldn't tell from you pic, so you might check to see if it's the strongly-doubled mm. brings a small premium for some collectors.

I believe this coin is AU. The obverse shows wear on the cheekbone and it looks like maybe on the lower part of the bowtie. The reverse is blurry but it appears there is wear on the right side of the top left wheat tips.

  • AU-55, posibbly dipped - way to many marks for a MS coin.

I have one that looks about the same, but it's made out of copper. What should I do with it?

Thats just rust, dip it in acid until it all comes off image
  • Russ:
How about an even trade for that 43 copper image
    Placid:
The coin is now bubbling in sulfuric acid. (Hoping it's going to turn into a 43 copper or at LEAST get some nice toning going) image
