The luster looks wrong... see how broad areas reflect at the same time? That is often a cleaned or polished coin. I hope it is not. Too small to judge if it is MS or not, or if it is FH or not. Seller states "High Grade means the coin has little or no wear".
Hope for the best. If it is a problem coin, use your return priviledge.
The seller has excellent feedback, so that's always a good sign! But, I, personally have given up trying to grade coins past VF based on scans. It's just too tough to see problems.
As a side note, I think I may start dabbling in SLQ's. I've been collecting for almost 2 years now and haven't ventured outside of Buffalo Nickels. SLQ's are darn nice looking coins and may be the next thing for me!
I think you paid MS60 money for it which isnt too bad.If the scan is `good`I,ll say the coin is AU-MS Like itsnotjustme says, the way the light reflects off the coin can tell you alot about the condition.
As soon as I saw the coin I noticed the luster. The luster looks a little off to me. Do the fields of this coin look too wavey or almost crackeled to anyone else? I'm guessing it visited some chemicals at some point, but I hope I'm wrong. You'll know when you get it. They're tough coins to judge, but the luster just don't look right (JDLR). I hope it was just bad lighting--you never know. Good luck.
The rims of the coin appear to have some surface "gunk", tarnish, toning, whatever, but yet the surfaces do not...looks whizzed....But it's hard to tell from such a small pic....not that I'm an expert or anything....just my opinion....

looks whizzed to me to prooflike, but what can you tell from a picture. How long have you been collecting cpoulous1? Seems like a lot of dough to shell out on a series that your not real familiar with, to go along with a small picture, but that's said without knowing your collecting background, not trying to be negative here, just a lot of money to me for the above reasons.
Hope you don`t think we,re to harsh with your purchase, its just that its hard to really tell with scans. And ofcourse most here will quickly point out for buyer assurance and quality seek out the PCGS slabbed coins(or NGC and ANACS) and ..well you can`t go wrong most of the time. Buying raw over the net is tricky sometimes. Also that because of the high market demand for this series in high grade slabbed, they can be very pricey. It may be one of the most well-liked designs in the hobby and priceing seems to reflect that too.
Without even looking at what you paid, my first impression of it was positive. An attractive piece. Maybe cleaned, but I am a rotten judge of that from scans (yet another reason I buy only slabs sight-unseen).
As to price, it is up to you to decide whether or not it was worth it, despite what we might say here. Do you like it? Newbie or not, yours is the opinion that counts the most.
(After looking at your price): If I pay more than $100 for a coin like that, I generally want to have it in PCGS or NGC (or at least ANACS) plastic. This doesn't mean there aren't still a few quality raw coins left out there, though. Yours looks nicer than I thought it would when I clicked the link. I'll leave the question of "was it worth it?" to you, and the others on this thread.
impossible to tell if you "paid too much" till you get the coin! then, IF you like it enough, the price doesn't really matter. nor does grade, or plastic, or anything else really. w/ out even bothering to grade the coin, it looks nice to me, and $170 isn't gonna put in the poor house.
when you get the coin, examine it, think about it, see if you fall in love. then, you let us know whether you done good or not.
If in doubt don't. Live by that rule in coin collecting.
And the responses have indicated a lot of doubt about the coin and include me. I'd send it back and avoid the raw coins for now. Just be patient and wait for a nice slabbed SLQ to come along.

if you like it in the first five minutes, keep it.
If not, send it back.
I've found it's real hard to learn to like a coin when you have no other option but to keep it or spend it. Do you have a dealer near you you can ask for an opinion?
BTW, the picture was gone when i looked at the auction, so i'm going by what the people above me said.

The slq's I find are one of the hardest coins to grade.
The picture is too small for me to even guess.
It looks nice in the picture

For the price you paid, I believe you can do much better.
Joe.
On the other hand, if you are new at collecting DO NOT buy raw coins. I tell you that from experience...
