A member recently posted the fact he "bit the bullet" and bought ANACONDA'S Monster toned ANACS Commemorative and is now researching this particular coin.
-There is a PCGS MS68 1955-S Lincoln coming up for sale (Thread is on the Registry side) where the estimate is about $8,000 to $10,000.00 to own it.
It has occurred to me lately, this is a hobby of Courage. Not just ability to 'grade' and eyeball a coin (and then place a value on it) but to back up that assessment with your own personal funds.
How many times have you plucked down your hard earned dollars on a coin and although you didn't necessarily have second thoughts, you certainly had your heart racing and you realize the expense involved!?
To spend even $1,500.00 on that attractive Rainbow toned 1881-S Morgan (and hope you're right that it isn't AT) or to buy that FN12 1916-D Mercury takes a strength not required in other endeavours.
This certainly isn't a hobby of sissies.
I don't know why I felt a need to write this out loud- just a thought I had today (as I was balancing my checkbook...).

...That's something I have vowed never to do. I figure as long as I still have checks, there must still be money available. Right?

I fool myself by just creating a different asset on my personal financial statement. Instead of cash on hand, try tangible asset. You didn't spend any money, you just converted it.
