Precise meaning of "Did Not Cross"

If a coin is submitted for crossover service, and is found to be impaired (e.g. AT), will it be listed as DNC or "questionable toning"

This is a real live example, because I submitted a bust dime graded by ANACS as MS62, cross at any grade. The coin seems solid and unimpaired, although it may be on that strange cusp between AU58 and MS62. In any case, it is listed as DNC, which surprised me since I was happy to have it cross regardless of the grade.

(Braddick -- however, they did cross my ANACS Missouri 50c, now PCGS VG10 !)

It would be very helpful if they would elaborate on why they did not cross. mike

It depends. Sometimes if you plug in the would-be cert number into the database it will tell you why. Othertimes it will just say DNC.
  • it means the guy or gal that gave its original grade was being very kind , leave well enough alone ,if you submit it again we will bag it image

Probably toned or cleaned. You would think since they still get your money they could give you the reason. image

    Congratulations on the Missouri!
I've had coins not cross that didn't really tick me off, but if PCGS dared not cross one of my Commemoratives there would be he11 to pay!! image
