Superior ANA Auction Experience

I just wanted to comment on my experience buying a trade dollar at the ANA sale. Everything went well. It did take three weeks for the invoice of the coin to fianlly arrive, but the service after the invoice was sent was super fast. I sent a check on Tuesday of last week and got the coin yesterday. I am pleased overall.

    which one did you buy?
  • I bought the 1875-S that was PCGS graded Au58. I paid MS money for it, which seems to be the case with alot of Au58 coins I buy. I am pleases with the coin, and it will fiond a home in my registry type set.

One more question. It is in an ld PCGS holder. I personally don't like the old as much as the new. I hear some people say they are worth more in old holders. Is there any reason not to get it reholdered??

That was my coin! I figured it's an MS62, but why bother to play the game. It's worth every penny you paid.

Congrats! I know a couple of guys that really were mad at me for not selling them that coin.

    Hi Jay,

Some buyers prefer (on a site unseen basis, at least) old holdered coins, because of the perception that the grading might be more conservative. However, that is not necessarily the case and, you apparently already paid strong money for the coin. Based on that, I'd say, if you prefer the newer holder, go for it!
