Removal of PVC from two 1937 copper Philippine coins?

Picked up a set of copper coins with great color but each has PVC corrosion (light). Acetone seems like it might hurt the copper. Is acetone the best thing to remove the PVC without hurting the color or are there other suggestions?

From what I understand, acetone has no effect on any metals. But I have also heard of people using isopropyl alcohol.

Ammonia but it seems that anything will alter the appearance of copper coins.

If they are valuable maybe let ncs have a look at them.

Placid's suggestion is probably the best for coins of serious value.

I did a test with silver, copper and nickel (circulated, but nice circs) in acetone and found that under my test there was no observable difference with the coins after 14 days in a jar in acetone. However, I have also experienced a 1908s ihc turning blue after it was soaked in acetone. It had a multitude of problems anyway, something growing on it that I couldn't identify. But the blue color is not attractive. So caution is advised.
