stupid question for the day - Burnished or Not?

It looks the same as the other Millennium Sacs. How can you tell the difference between one that is burnished or not?

It has a "matte" finish like a normal Sac, as opposed to the flashy prooflike finish typical of Millennium Set Sacagaweas.

In other words, from what I can tell, it's just a normal Sac that got in a Millennium package, i.e. a packaging error at best. The fact that they ever brought, and apparently continue to bring, a huge premium baffles me.

But if you've got one, send it to ICG! PCGS doesn't note any of them specialy.

I personally made one of these in ICG66 back when the sets first shipped. After searching 10 sets I knew the one I had graded was different than the burnished ones. Everyone I showed it to thought it was the same as the burnished ones, so I decided to make a point. I sent the submission to ICG, not even mentioning it was non-burnished. I ended up selling it for around $950.00, and even at that some have gone over $2000.00. I can't figure it out either because it really is a packaging error, but you all know the old saying, "Never kick a gift horse in the mouth". Well blow me down! I just noticed the mark on the Obverse of the Silver Eagle, and the serial number. That was MY coins!

Since I have one of these in ICG MS67, I prefer to think of them as being specially chosen by fate to end up in the hands of the few who can truly appreciate them. Mark.
