Conder101, do you have this slab?

First time I've seen one quite like this. I've seen them with the numbering starting to the left like this, but only with the green labels.

The font style on the slab is the same style as on green labels. I think this is a green label.

  • Yep, that IS a green label slab. Style used from 1990 - 1995. The text fonts and placements match. The odd color of the label is probably due to something in the scanning.

How comes the book, Conder? And, more importantly, how are you feeling?

Conder101: I also have a blue insert slab exactly like this as well.

I had obtained it in 1997 or mid 1998 and had previously asked you about it. You responded by asking me to send you a photo of it.

I admit I had forgotten to follow up on it.

    I will do so ASAP.

Well like I have said in the past I have seen these early green label slabs with over a dozen different colors ranging from almost a canary yellow to the same light blue seen on the current slabs. Usually they go towards the yellow-green side but blue-green ones are around if you look for them. Originally I listed the yellow insert as a different subvariety but when I realized what was going on with the changing colors on the inserts I dropped that subvariety.

The book is coming along but its had some setbacks. I'm currently pulling it all back together again from back up files. While I was in the hospital they swapped out my computer down in the office and all my front line files went with it! I'm having so trouble keeping up with new discoveries. The section on novelty slabs is exploding with five new varieties in the past week. I think since I managed to get back on line on 8/1 I've turned up 4 new companies, 6 new varieties, possibly one new sample slab. between 5 and 7 new novelty slabs and a couple of new items for the Miscellaneous section. The only thing I haven't seen are new body bag varieties.

Personally my recovery has slowed a bit. I've been pushing it a bit too much, doing a lot of standing and walking without the walker and I over stressed my leg muscles. They are now cramping up and making it even more difficult to get around. I'm taking it easy for the next few days tp try and let them recover. Feeling is very slowly returning to my abdominal area and left leg but so far not much with the right leg.

Conder101/Russ: I called R&I who is auctioning the coin and spoke with Alex.

Indeed the insert is green colored on the reverse side and the color changed to blue on the obverse side just like you said.

I wonder if these are "rare"

I only have one of them myself (if that is what it is but hoping that mine is a new unknown PCGS generation). image
