Is this legitimate or not?

Picked this up at an estate auction yesterday. I can't see any scrapes or gouges using a 10x magnification either. I'm not a Lincoln collector, but it looked cool, so I bought the lot. Any ideas? Filled die, fake, anything? Thanks in advance for information.

Is that a ancient coin from 195 ad?

Looks ok to me, I often see things in coins surfaces and on that one I see a arrow pointing from the rim to the 5 in the date.
  • Thanks Placid, the arrow you see is actually a bump and not a dent.

I have one just like it, I too would be very interested to know what it is. I really know very little about Lincolns so if anyone can tell us it will be greatly appreciated.

It's probably a filled die where the last digit was full of gunk.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

y'all are totaly off the mark. that coin is from the 1st year they were actually struck.. you'd know it was fake if it said "195 BC"

Thats a good one.Doesnt appear in the scan to have been post-strike altered.
Any way of finding a date it was struck? Its that a hint of a four there?
Its awful smooth in that spot.
I,d like to examine it with my microscope.

Looks like there may be the faintest hint of a four. That may explain why it looks like an arrow. image

    Welcome to the Boards, Stormchaser.

That's a very interesting error you have. I wonder if it's possible for someone to have removed the last digit after minting, though. Any ideas on that possibility?
