Proof sets worth any more...?

Are modern proof sets worth any more if you keep the original shipping boxes? I keep the inner coin boxes but not the outer, should I also keep the outer?
It's the "hunt" that makes this such a great hobby...

I would suggest keeping the outer box. You may not use them, but if you resell them, the new owner might want them. They also protect the plastic from scuffing. Without them, your sets are probably not going to be worth that much less, I suppose, but I would keep them anyway, even if you set them aside and display the sets without them.

Lots of them are worth more if you get rid of all the packaging
and put them in rolls. Who's to say what is best in the future.

  • Yes, all modern US Mint Products including Proof Sets are always worth more in their original packaing which includes their outer boxes. It is just a fact that people like coins in their original packaging.
