    Nice and expensive.
  • The thing is, if you bought that, what do you do with all your other Barber half proofs? You'd have to spend $1M upgrading them all to match, or ditch 'em and become a type collector. image
  • I agree with the points made by Supercoin.

It is a beautiful coin and will bring in the estimated price. My collection of barber proofs will primarily stay in the PR66 to PR67 range simply because not only would my budget not allow for a PR68 but also the collection would be out of balance.

This does not mean however, that I did not drool a full bucket when I saw the photo.

Wow. Absolutely stunning. (That 1900, too!) Both make my 1898 look pretty dull. But that's the difference 5 points make, I guess. Still, I am rather enamored of mine, and it cost less than 10% of what one of those monsters would. Lots of bang for the buck.

Its obverse falls far short of those, but I'd say the reverse of mine, when seen in person, is comparable, at least to the naked eye. The hints of gold coloring in my pictures is a scanner illusion. I gotta make some better pics of it- maybe with the digicam instead of the scanner.

The Teletrade coin is pretty but the smudges hairlines or whatever and the haze in the obv field bother me as does the white spots on the rev. I wouldn't want that on my $15,000 coin.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
