Awesome, it's the second one I've seen graded by Hannes Tulving.

At the local monthly coin show I go to, one of the old timers (he is really old) must have 30 or more coins in holders like this. I looked at one a couple of months ago, had a walker in it and was way over priced. Had some coin company from the east coast on the slab. I'll take some notes on them when I attend in Septemeber.
  • Aaagh... wonder if I should buy this one for Conder101, I don't know if he already has one. Hopefully nobody will bid in the last few minutes. I'll PM him.

Otherwise, IrishMike, he might be interested in one of the ones you've seen for his slab historical collection.

That slab, which HT way overgraded, was the reason the government came down on HT. I remember buying them at deep discounts in the late 80's to early 90's, cracking them and selling the coins raw. Grading was a minimum of 2 points over.

I almost bought one of them because they were so unusual looking, but like I said this guy had several of them. I thought of Conder too but didn't know if they had any value. I thought they might be very common so I felt silly even asking about them.

Anyone else ever come across these holders?

In the past year and a half the Tulving slabs have become rather common in the shows in my area. I've literally seen dozens of them. It is an interesting slab though. The opaque holder and its snaplocking manufacture is unique among all of the slabs. As far as I know they only used the one variety of slab.
