Is there a book for IH Cent Varieties? Something
along the lines of Cohen for half cents or Sheldon
and Newcomb for large cents. Fivel-Stanton
comes to mind, but I don't know if this is the
standard IH collectors go by.

Rick Snow's in the process of updating the varieties from his original book, and this will be the "bible", but until then a must have is Flying Eagle and Indian Cent Die Varieties (The F.IND.ERS Report) by Larry R. Steve and Kevin Flynn which came out after Snow's original book.

The Snow book can be bought in decades as it's available, with 1900-1909 already out. The number of new finds in the past 6 or 7 years is incredible -- most have been listed in the Fly-In Club's Longacre's Ledger through the years -- so even the Steve reference falls a bit short as far as minor varieties go. Steve just had a great article in the most recent Ledger about the key variett of each year for those interested in putting a unique set like that together.

Fivel-Stanton were the original attributers and their "FS" numbers are still used on NGC & ANACS slabs. ANACS has started using the new "S" (Snow) numbers as well, which are a bit easier to remember and are more encompassing.

Be very very careful, cent varieties, both IHC and Lincoln can become very addictive.

Actually, "FS" stands for Fivaz- Stanton, as in Bill Fivaz. Co-authors of Cherrypicker's Guide.

I think "Fivel" was that cartoon mouse in the animated movie An American Tail.

(No, wait- he was Fievel. Whatever.)

My apoligies to Mr. Fivaz for the spelling (I can barely pronounce his name). And congrats on being inducted into the Hall of Fame. The Cherrypicker's guide is still a great reference for the major varieties.
