More on the Fingerprint Issue

Just wanted to let everyone know that I got a response from BJ indicating that she has brought the fingerprint issue to the attention of Rick Montgomery as well as Miles Standish - yep there's a Miles Standish @ PCGS. I emailed her dakra's thread and I think she was quite surprised with it. She then forwarded it to Rick, Charlie and Miles.

Anyway, I guess dakra's posts got their attention. Good Job dakra and thanks BJ.
I guess they really do care about customer service. imageimage

  • Michael,
Looking back, I totally flew off the handle and it was mostly due to the first two emails I received back from customer service. I really had the feeling that I was out of luck the way my coins came back.

My reasoning on getting my coins graded is two fold. I want a collection of my own which will be given to my son when he is older and other coins will be sold to bring extra money into the house/refuel the savings/purchase more coins.

On Thursday I sat down to review the coins and make a list of the 'Quality Control' problems and I got to my third coin (2002 Gold Eagle) and I saw a scratch in it (not sure if it is on the coin or the holder) and I flipped. I looked at this coin at 8x prior to sending it and it was flawless. When I looked at the Obverse, I could see a black hair towards the edge of it which went around the coin to the Reverse... I was so Livid that I walked away from the coins, fuming, angry...hurt...dazed...confused.... walked around aimlessly :-)

I was waiting word from someone else at PCGS but I just blew my stack and contacted a few people higher up in the organization. I attempted to state my case as calmly as I could. Needless to say, just by these people emailing me back, I felt the weight of the world was no longer on my shoulders.

Obviously, just by reading this message board over the past two months, I know there are some issues. Personally, some of these issues have easy fixes such as the cloth gloves and the use of compressed air.... I would even go one step further and say "When in doubt, clean the coin"

I am truly hoping I can come back a week or two from now and sing the praises of PCGS. The fact of the matter is, I have another shipment almost ready to go (conducting a test on a few coins first) I was going to send it in but I would feel better that my situation is taken care of first.

I appologize to everyone for being the biggest crankster for the past week, I'm usually a jokester and I appologize for this long winded message! image

called them a few times over the last couple weeks and they were very helpful and patient with my submission questions (I'm a PCGS newbie, hehe.) Guess I've gotten used to being put on hold and getting the run around. Was a pleasant surprise, for a change.

    what's with the upsidedown flag

Doesn't that mean that we're in mourning? Or that we've suffered casualties? I know our military use it whenever they've suffered grievously...
