RAINBOW!! toned superb gem mintstate boone commem PHOTO REPOSTED!

this 1935 boone commemorative half dollar currently resides in an ngc 67 holder certified before the star designation

A REAL RAINBOW i know that term is used lots but this is the REAL DEAL
AND RARE FOR A BOONE!

has uncommon utterly fantastic toning for a boone the obverse has a rainbow arc of color and this is because this coin was stored in an album close/since the time of issue and was put into the album at an angle which formed this arc while the coin toned. the reverse has original lilac toning covering all of the coin like many early commoms you see and with a slight rainbow arc of color at 9pm.

this can be seen from the scan on the reverse the lilac color and for the obverse the scan barely does the coin justice in person it is much more colorful and the rainbow is lighter and "glows" especially with the great lustre comnig through the toning! which cant be seen from the scan!!!

usually boones come really white from dipping and have little/indifferent lustre or they come with brownish yellowish toning with little to no lustre and with at best average eye appeal.

rarely do you see a coin that looks like this boone!!!!

what really adds to to this coins eye appeal and speaks of its originality is the great lustre coming through the toning on the obverse and reverse! the coin is really "alive" when viewed in person.

to me the obverse is a no brainer 68 obverse with the reverse a 67+

i could see this in a 68 holder some day

if this coin had the rainbow totally around the rims

it would sell for 25 or more times bid; easy

the above is just my opinion as i have examined this coin in person from an eastern collection currently impounded as such

EVERY TIME I POST A PHOTO ON THE PCGS FORUMS BOARDS IT DISAPPEARS FROM EVERY THREAD overnight!!!!! NEVER FAILS WELL HERE IS THE IMAGE AGAIN!

oh and Mr. Mark Feld!! you are a great guy with an ever greater sense of humor!!!!!!!!......lol oh and if this photo disappears please private message me with your e mail and i will send to you!! sorry guys i just do not know why this always happens to me!!!!!!! if you can figure it out let me know!!!!!

sincerely michael

Wow. Looks monstrous. I gotta feeling that this Eastern Collection may just belong to Michael! If I had a
Boone, I would want it to look like that.

Michael, interesting coin. It is of interst to me as I'm thinking about getting into some of these.

I feel it would be a great collection of history and a bit of a change
as your not always looking at the same coin. And learning to grade them correctly would be a challenge I'd like to take on.

Thanks again for your great posting of great coins

Edited to add: the kind of color on a coin I like is what you describe.
Where the luster comes through the color!!

thanks everyone for all the great comments

    also stman!

for me i like great lustre coming through the toning as this important aspect, among many other aspects of a coin when all come together it tells me something about the coin and if all these aspects are great

then you have a really superb and original coin!

Michael, are you certain that the color on that coin is original? I ask for one reason only... - that being to give you a hard time! Looks quite gorgeous and somewhat familiar.image

Toneddollars - I can't speak for the other posters to the board but.... actually, I don't see an image here (and can certainly understand your question as to whether this is a joke) but I had seen/handled the coin in question previously.
