    Ok, let me clarify the question, what is the most you've spent, what was the coin you bought, and do you still own it?

    My answer is $1,250 for an 1857-S double eagle in AU-55, and I no longer own it.

    I think I am one of the lower ones here with about $400, but my Peace $ collection has plans for a few around $1000.image

    On the other hand, living in So. Cal, I probably paid more for a condo then just about anyone here!image

    1925-S Buffalo Nickel PCGS MS64 $5000 in 1994

    It was a VERY near gem piece (MS 65 was about $25K at the time). I thought I could upgrade it. I tried twice but it came back in a body-bag the first time and MS64 the second. I was insecure holding it because I just didn't have the savings at the time (I was in over my head). I ended up selling it for the same amount. Today, there would be no way in hell I'd sell that coin. image

    Wow rays, having two 1796 Half cents is awesome. These are almost as rare as an ugly Ike. Guess which one I would rather have?

    The most I ever spent was on a 1893-S Morgan $1,000. Still take it over any Ike ever minted! (Including the $7.59 million one) Collections are not about money but what you consider worth owning.

    I let a Heritage rep talk me into a 1932-S MS65 quarter a couple of years ago for $2,000. No regrets.
    Buy the coin...but be sure to pay for it.
