Personally, I like collecting Circ coins more, because Proofs are struck perfectly, and are meant to be in perfect shape, but I don't have anything against Proof coins or those who collect them.

Always buying music cards of artists I like! PSA or raw! Esp want PSA 10s 1991 Musicards Marx, Elton, Bryan Adams, etc. And 92/93 Country Gold AJ, Clint Black, Tim McGraw PSA 10s
it can be both. whatever "it" is. in the case of ikes, circulation strikes are so hard to find in gradable condition that proofs are your only shot at making 69 s out of one. granted the chase for high grade circulation coins is exciting but very time consumming verses cracking out proof sets.
Yes proofs are beautiful. So are the Sport's Illustrated Swimsuit models, but I am never going to get with them. They are look only, no touch!
Proofs are the same way. Nope, I like my coins, beaten down by life, worn, used to buy motor oil, or wool socks or anything that meant something to someone. I like them with a few little nicks and ticks, imperfections and dirt that says I was spent, used and saw the seedier parts of humankind (edited for accuracy).
OK so I am a bit dramatic. Problem with proofs is that they are so perfect one just wants to rub them over and over. Kind of like that compulsion one feels to just squeeze a cute little baby's cheek.
mdwoods.... This one caught my eye especially with the coins I have been looking at lately. I have seen so many circulated coins going for an incredible amount of money compared to their proof counterparts. I've collected mostly proofs but these "MS Wonders" have me wondering.

We'll use our hands and hearts and if we must we'll use our heads.

I thought you would have been more likely to pit varieties against nonvarieties!!!

I have never heard the word "humanhood" before.
I see the fellows that publish the Websters Dictionary haven't either.
