Restored date Buffalo Nickels - Value?

Is there a rule of thumb as far as a value for restored date buffalo nickels?

There was a recent e-bay auction where a restored 13-S T2 went for about $35. That seemed almost too reasonable to me. Any thoughts, info?

Joe.

How was it restored? Acid or tooling? I would place very little value on buffaloes restored like that.

I sold one last year that was restored by acid for about $5! Wish I could have made $35!!!! lol

My rule of thumb for acid date buffs is to avoid them at all costs, no matter how reasonable they seem. If I have to buy them as part of a group, they are bought as date less coins.

now the following statement doesnot necessarly refer to this post as i need to see any coin in person to give my thoughts on what i believe to be true. but

i must say there are many uninformed buyers with lots of money to spend on ebay for whatever reasons they have and i can see why many coins not saleable for anywhere near the prices anywhere else get sold for multiples of what they are really worth on ebay

but then again the worth of anything is what a buyer is willing to pay and a seller is willing to let it go for a meeting of the minds and the exchange of "money" for an item

I would say, if it's a really rare date it might bring something of a premium, but 90% of the time nothing more than a common worn nickel.

These are extremely difficult to find a buyer for. It seems they would go for fairly
good money to someone who wants a better date but can't afford it, but they don't.
Even 1 and 2 digit buffs are getting pretty hard to sell. These used to be called
fairs and AG's and went for 1/3 to 2/3 of the good price. I recently saw a pretty
nice 18/17-D acid date go for $10 because it wouldn't bring more.
