Grading Special Help!!!

I collect mainly 1920's and 1930's golf cards, but had the opprotunity to pick up a batch of 58 commons from 1957, 1960,1961, and 1967 baseball. I cherry picked these out as the dealer bought them from a guy at the card shop, and he gave me a great deal about 35% of high beckett for the raw cards.

I am wanting to send these in to be graded as I fell most (hopefully all) I picked out should be psa 8's with the potential for maybe even 5-8 psa 9's.

That brings me to my question, with the grading special being only $6 a card for the 60's 70's and 80's, that would save me a couple hundered bucks on grading. Do I need to have set registered from that year WITH a card already entered under my name in the registry to take advantage of the offer????

Thanks to you anyone who can get back to me with the proper information.

Yes you have to have a set listed on the registry to get the $6 grading fee for cards of that set. Just start a set with at least one PSA graded card and that set's cards are eligible!

  • I don't agree. I don't think you have to have the set registered. I have sent in numerous cards which were not in my registry sets during the specials.

  • but can Golf send in those 1957 as well for the $6.00 price on the same invoice? Since the special is 60's-80's?

They would not let me do that at the National - the 50's were $10 a piece. Let me know if you learn otherwise because I have a large batch going out tomorrow. Thanks!
  • While you don't have to have the set registered, the card must be from the 60s, 70s, or 80s.

According to the terms of the special, your set must be registeed to get the special price. I quote from the offer site:

register your set in the PSA Set RegistryTM and then take advantage of this very special offer. Submit 25 or more of your 60s, 70s, or 80s sportscards for just $6 a card! Your cards will be returned to you within 30 business days.

Here's what you need to do:

1.Register your 60s, 70s, or 80s set in the PSA
    Set Registry.
Sets can be validated with as
few as one or two PSA-graded cards. The
PSA Set Registry is a free service, but you will need to log in.

  • Well, I recently sent in 25 cards from a set which I didn't have any cards listed (I am just starting it). There is also the case where the set isn't in the registry yet.
