My friend Kyle Shreves is 5'10 with a thick pair of soles on his feet and he's got good ups as well.

Nah, I'm messing with ya. I'm 6'3 1/2" and I have a 35 inch vertical leap and I'm white as well. If you want to have a great jump, there's always different methods. For me, the best method was getting into a swimming pool in shallow water and try jumping in it. Do this for about 15-30 minutes per day and you'll eventually see a difference later on. It definitely helped me and I can now jump 35 inches or more. Just figured I'd give you, and whoever else is wanting to be able to have a better leap, my method that worked for me.

<< <i>What I do is put on 2 sets of leg weights and get on the stationary bike for 1/2 hour sets. Also, I do alot of squats and I also have a stepping machince(I also have the weights on during stepping). Then, everytime I come inside from outside, I try to touch the roof of my garage(my garage is 1 story high, so roughly 10.5-10.7 ft) and I've been able to touch it for about 6 months now. >>
Shawn, I used to do that as well, but it doesn't work as well as the swimming pool method. I remember reading an article by Penny Hardaway and he also uses/used the swimming pool method and he said that it helped him more than anything...and I tried it and it definitely was the way to go. You oughta try it...
