Home Buy, Sell & Trade - Cards & Memorabilia

Whoa

I went to the card shop Saturday to stock up on 1 screw down holders and cases. I watched this guy spend about $250-$300 on packs (openning them 1 by one). In Donruss Classics, he pulled this:

2002 Donruss Classics Legendary Hats 2 George Brett $200.00 (#'d to 50)

He openned up almost an entire box of Press Pass and pulled autos of DaJuan Wagner & Q. Richardson.

He got zilch out of EX baseball (a few inserts).

Another guy who comes in from time to time with his son (his son is about 20) bought a box of everything new. He spends about $2500 a month on boxes, but have pulled about $100,000 worth of cards this month including a redemption for an autographed Jordan jersey card #'d to 23, a Fleer BoxScore Hotbox, and a Donruss Classics Hotbox (never heard of them having one).

Before they showed up, one of the workers was saying, if I worked on commission, I would get paid about a nickel today. 30 minutes later. a lady bought $300+ worth of stuff for her son, then that guy who pulled the Brett Hat spent about $300 (give or take) on packs, and then the guy and his son bought about 12 boxes.

It's good to see people supporting the local card shops (at least the ones with honest dealers).

  • I go to Sports Treasures, but I have 2 card shops around the corner (Collector's Choice & Sportcard Investments). Sports Treasures is like a 2 minute drive. That's where I pulled my 2 Jordans and Emmitt Smith auto redemption. Also, a guy pulled a "Turn of the Century" autograph redemption card #102 from Donruss Elite (I think) Football. Well, card #102 is Joey Harrington. So, there were some nice pulls. The dealer has an autographed Barry Bonds bat which I am going to try to get (another reason for selling cards image).

hehe forget that. I'd buy memorabilia (full game used jerseys, bats, etc.)
  • lol, id buy a couple actual jerseys (iverson and mcnabb) and then hit ebay, and buy a ton of boxes(i love to bust em, its not worth the money, but its fun!)

Looking for tough Game Used and Autos in Football and Baseball, expecially Phillies, Orioles, Redskins, Steelers, Eagles and Raiders.
  • Well, Sports Treasures have just about everything including autographed bats, jerseys, footballs, baseballs, 8x10's, etc. They have just about all the supplies you can think of, SLU's, vintage packs, binders, ... you name it. They even run fantasy leagues, so the customer base is large.
  • auto... you know if they have anything of the players below?image

Well, my local shop(Salisbury sport cards) closed up last july. It was a little place, and they really pushed Delmarva Shorebirds(Single A Baltimore) memorabilia, because the stadium was about 300 yds. away. Well, there prices were high, but I could still get good deals on singles even though they were priced strange, gu'ed was full book, rookies and autos were 1/3 bk. So I pretty much traded my gu'ed for autos. But know, the Shorebirds sell players bats for 10 bucks, and I go and get it signed. I've gotten about 10 bats that way. I'd much rather pay 22(for bat and box seat admission) for a piece of memorabilia, then 22 on a sliver of bat. But thats just me. The most I've ever seen spent was at a place called the card closet(Fords, NJ), the owner has boxes from 75-current, sells singles for at the most 1/3 bv(unless it books at 200+). Anyway, last year, I saw a 30something guy come in, bought a 1989 UD low# box, 1992 bowman box, 1993&1994 SP box, a box of 1996 Topps Chrome, and bought a Lou Gehrig gu'ed pant card, as well as 2 boxes of 01 UD Sweetspot, and 4 boxes of Jumbo 01 Fleer Platinum. This man paid in cash, my draw dropped(I was looking at Chipper Jones and Soraino cards). I don't know the total he paid, but the owner told me he comes in every couple of months and blows alot of money. I then purchased a 99 Ultimate Victory Soraino rookie(He had a 5 dollar price tag on it) and numerous Chipper Jones rookies(about 20 rookies) and roughly 10 hard to find inserts(refractors and #'ed parallels) altogether w/ the Soraino for $21. I thought I did ok, I was happy with the Chipper mainly, until this season and Soraino. But I spend, 200-300 a year on cards, the only place I can buy from is that shop by my Grandma's and the internet. B/c the closest shop to me is about 90 miles away.
