Returning all 15 2002 Mint Sets

Well, after examining all my 2002 mint sets, thay are all going back. It looks like all the coins except the cent are shaken together in a large bag before going into the sets. I don't expect a set full of MS67+ coins, but really- I think sets for collectors should be better than rolls from the bank!

Estimated average grade of coins in the set
Cent MS67RD
Nickel MS63FS
Dime MS67
Quarters MS65
Halfs MS65
Dollars MS65/6
Give Blood (Red Bags) & Platelets (Yellow Bags)!

  • Brian: all of my mint sets went back also. I am impressed at the grades you gave your coins, on average. Mine were not that good. Junk!image

I have gotten better coins out of circulation (in change) and in rolls.

Brian can grade modern mint state coins. I've "made" 2 MS67FS nickels, and 2 MS68 1976-S Kennedy Half Dollars. The Denver mint coins were worse than those averages I gave.

Those grades you give the sets seem pretty good to me, but mine are
even better. The nickels average MS-65 and the quarters average MS-65+,
except the Louisiana which are awful (MS-60 at best). Just got mine yes-
    terday.

  • How does that work? Does the mint give you replacements or your money back?

They keep the shipping though, right?
  • Mine were a tad bit better than I expected. I have a Tennessee-p that I believe will go 68 or high end 67 at the least. The rest of the quarters average 64-65.
