Lost it Today and bought Raw Coins. Hmmm

What do you think of the following Raw Mercs. Will make the Grade Guesses a little easy and tell you that one coin the 17P has 3 slide marks on her cheek. The rest have No Hairlines on either side. The 30P has a Planchet Flaw on the right side on the reverse. Luster is Very Nice on all coins. Will give My opinions after hearing some of Yours.

Give Me some Grades as every once in awhile opinions are needed and welcome. Do Not hold back !!! image

I have no clue what they grade, but if you had the enjoyment I think you had in buying them, then whatever they grade they were worth it.

    Ken,

What has gotten into you? Seriously, if you bought them right you did fine. They all look real nice to me, but if that is a gough(sp) on the 41-S I don't know how to grade it.

    Anyway:

    17 64FB PQ
    30 65
    34 65FB
    41-S ?????

    Jon:

In front of her forehead and Lips ?? No Gough (SP?) just Proof like patches. Coin does have some Die Polish though. Blast White ++ also. Something is wrong with me. Trust Me the prices were right. In fact I feel somewhat guilty about the price I paid for the bunch of them. The seller was Happy so I guess no remorse is needed.

Best Merc week I have had in ages. Python1 (Dennis) sent the 20P that is Killer for a 65 coin and then yesterday I received the Ebay 29P and was pleasantlly supprised to see it with Golden Rim toning on obverse and reverse, which the seller failed to mention but darn sure does not bother me, then these.

    Edit to add a question:

Jon or anyone. On the 30P that I am attaching just to the lower right of the Facces there appears to be a place where part of the planchet flaked off. Now look just below the D in dime and you will see a piece of metal that has been retained on the coin. Am I correct in thinking this is what has happened ? Sort of Cool anyway.

Sounds great. And to keep you from feeling guilty, why don't you just send them to me. I promise not to feel guilty.

And what are you going to do with all of these raw Mercs?

    Good nite. Jon

Going to try My luck with PCGS one more time. The free submissions they gave for the Set being 90% will come in handy with these. The 41S if it does what I think it will with them will go into the set. The rest are just for my hoarder instinct that over rules common sense for the most part. image

        Ken,

Nice group of Mercs. You're lucky to find raw coins like those.

I know this is the registry forum, but dare I say this, stick them in a nice intercept book case album and every time you add one, you get to turn the pages and admire them all over again. Much more fun than to have to keep pulling the slabs out of the boxes.image

        Mike:
Having meager resources requires that the Coins be put into Slabs to protect the Initial Investment. This Guarantees that if for some reason they would have to be sold I will get the initial investment back. "Guarantees" !! Did I really Just Say That ?? LOL !!
Actually if 4 Free Submissions were not in hand all except 1 which I really do need for the Registry Set would probably be handled just as you suggested. Comparing My grading skills to others skills actually will work with these as long as the comparison is Free. image Ken
