VAM's and Magnification

I just started to expand my intrests in Morgans to VAM attribution. I just bought the Top 100 VAM book by Michael S. Fey & Jeff Oxman, and I am going to add the Van Allen, George Mallis book as soon as possible. I own a 16x loupe but it's not that good. I was thinking of buying a 10x hastings triplet and a 20x Stereo Microscope. Is the 20x microscope a bit much or would it be as useful as I think at attributing VAMs, Doubling, RPM, etc?
Looking for some opinions.

Is your memory slipping or mine? Didn't we already have this conversation or am I experiencing deja vu? Let me check my PMs; hopefully I haven't deleted then recently.
