t-wolves make offer sheet to ricky davis! also READ DERRICK!!!! :)

Cavs free agent Ricky Davis got his offer, unfortunately for Cavs fans it wasn’t from the Cavaliers, rather the Minnesota Timberwolves reached an agreement on a 6 year offer sheet to the tune of $33 million. Because Davis is a restricted free agent, the Cavaliers will have 15 days to match the contract. The situation gets further complicated because the deal was reached after the close of business on Friday, which likely starts the clock for Cleveland on Monday. The Cavs and Davis had negotiated a new deal in the $7 million annual range, but the largest number the Cavs offered was 3 years at roughly $15 million. Should the Cavs pass matching, the Wolves will have used their entire median exception to grab the 6’7 Davis. Cavs sources indicated that the initial word was they would match the offer, but the Cavs told incoming media, that GM Jim Paxson wanted to see the official paperwork before he commented to media.

  • Damn man! I wish I could get the NBA stuff like you! LOL

Question: Since the Kings aquired Keon, have you heard or read what the Kings plan to do with him? My guess would be to come off the bench for Divac. Or maybe even for Webber alongside of Divac at times. Where does that leave Pollard? I haven't heard of the Kings planning on moving any other players, have you?

    Thanks!

  • The Cav's were just playing the waiting game. There is absolutly no way the Cav's will let Davis walk, they just wanted to see if another team would offer the cash on him. Since the Wolves offered the cash, now the Cavs will have to pay up....plain and simple. There is no way the Cavs would let him go without getting something in return.

  • paxson made his best offer. a 3 yr offer. he doesn't want a long-team deal ricky's seeking. he only wants short-term deals so w/ the t-wolves offering 6 yrs, cavs may not match.

Ricky Davis - 7.9 PPG in 183 career games. He might go and help them a "tad", but other than his dunking abilities...he won't do jack sh*t. And, if they think Ricky Davis is going to help them get past the first round, then they have another thing coming. Hell, their prime player can't even get them into second round...what they need is a nice center.
  • Ricky Davis has shown nothing that gives me the opinion that he'll be a big time NBA player. The T-wolves continue to be a done.

has he ever started? no. he never had a chance to play the starter minutes.

and there is pretty much no nice center except shaq and rasho is pretty decent and has shown a lot of improvement.

also, i'm a lakers fan as well and u keep saying the lakers are going to win it easily and everything but the lakers are only getting older yr by yr. what have they done to improve the roster? nothing. however, we did add 3 players but only 2 should be worth mentioning. aj guyton and rush. rush will be kobe's sidekick for yrs to come. but aj and rush won't be playing because they will need to learn the triangle just like devean george did in 99. so, they pretty much will go back the same and square off against the kings w/ the same players.

whereas their rivals, the kings have a lot of young talent and are just improving w/ the signings of bibby and keon clark.

bottom line is that they will not win it easily this yr and didn't last yr. there will be some competition come june. image
  • now the Cavs wont have much of a team but some young guys and a couple veterans

Even though he didn't start, he played 18 minutes per game for his career and still only scored 7.9 PPG. That's NOT bad at all but, if he did go to Minnesota, he'd probably start and only play about 26-30 minutes per night. That's about 8-12 MORE minutes per game than he's played in his career, which would obviously bring his PPG up, but I don't think it would go up THAT much considering he'd be playing around KG and Wally. I'd say his if he DOES play 26-30 minutes per game next season (being he starts), he'll average around 11-12 PPG, and that's it...esp. playing with the egos of KG and Wally.

Him going to a team like that might help him get more minutes, but he'll still be all about the flashy dunks. Just my opinion of course, but I betcha many people would echo me.
