deep cameo proof trade dollar

this coin is very close to gem grade on the obverse and a superb gem on the reverse but even though technically not super high grade a very deeply mirrored frosty trade dollar two dealers which are big on coins like this said it is one of the most if not the most deepest frostiest trade proofs they have ever seen! the obverse has a couple of worms and a couple of hairlines the reverse is a 66++/67 with no hairlines or worms

the photo it is not very good as it really doesnot show the mirrors or the frost well the coin is fully struck which is rare for the date 1881 in proof trade dollars the coin is blast white and with clean clear mirrors no haze or spots or cloudiness and looks like a newly struck proof 2002 silver eagle with just as much frost and blash and flash and deep watery mirrors

if you looked at this coin raw you would question its authenticity as one of the two dealers told me

sincerely michael

i tried to upload this file and could not please give me your e mail if you want to see this coin

  • WOAH! What an awesome coin. I would most certainly question it's authenticity if I saw it raw. Awesome, especially considering it's age!

Sorry, Michael - I have seen many proof Trade Dollars (including examples graded PF65 and higher) with considerably more obverse contrast than that.

PS - are you the Michael I speak with on the phone about gorgeous coins, from time to time?
  • I love looking at 19th century deep cameo coins. Too bad I can't afford to buy one.

Thanks for the eye candy. The Trade $ is my favorite design.

hi there mark well i think if you saw this coin in person you might change your mind!! i think so........ as the scan does not show off the coin very well if you saw this coin and there were still other coins with better cameo contrast then i would be shocked

and saddened as i would never be able to afford those other coins!!
