my personal feeling is to accept your results as genuine. many will knock crossover attempts and run the crackout theory around and around. i think it's in PCGS's best interest to get a properly graded coin out of a competitors holder and into theirs. and to play devils advocate on the other side of the issue, perhaps PCGS hasn't gotten stricter with their assessments of submissions, perhaps submitters have become a little complacent in the choices of coins sent in and that is starting to be reflected in the grades received.
al h.
The halfdime at the link below is a good example. I thought when I purchased the coin that it looked better than the AU50 that it was slabbed at.
Halfdime Obverse
Halfdime Reverse
Based on some other results I've received, I don't think that PCGS is out to give higher grades in other companies holders. 2 times in the last year I've received coins back that didn't crossover at the minimum grade specified. I'm either getting better or really lucky!
I wish I had a scan of the 1921D Merc dime that I purchased from a fellow board member that crossed over. It's a beautiful coin, just a few rubs away on the reverse from being graded EF.

Congrats on your crossover success (and they said it could be done ).

When I hear member talk about PCGS being all over the place I believe they are speaking relative to getting it right 100% of the time. Add to that the feeling that politics plays a part in whether a coin will cross (meaning whose holder is it in currently and who is submitting the coin) causes members to congratulate a 3 for 3 crossover.
I don't think anybody disputes the fact that PCGS is one of the top grading services. Are that light years ahead of NGC? Not in my opinion but if you read some of the other opinions expressed on the forum some members think PCGS is the Microsoft of grading services (maybe not a good analogy depending on how many times your computer crashed today ).
