Hi,
If you have any, could you send me/post any pictures of Indian Cents in the following conditions:
VF-30
XF-40
XF-45
AU-55
If I could be luckier, you would have the scans of these in c/n, even luckier if you had them for 1859... my scans are bad, so i don't know if posting it here (again) will help... maybe it would work better if I could see your scans.
THanks,
Jeremy

One more question... how does one differentiate a weak strike from wear? Correct me if I am wrong, but the cheek will wear quickly, as it is a high point...
On my 1859...
the tips of the feathers are kinda smooth
liberty is full
2 diamonds show
the cheek appears fully rounded
Could this be from a weak strike on the hard planchet vs. true wear?
It can be tougher to determine AU/MS on these because of the harder metal. Here are 2 AU55 examples. The first ANACS coin, who grade IHs as strictly as any service, shows very little obvious wear except for the light dings. The second PCGS example is your typical AU coin with obvious wear on the lower hair curl -- the first place that wears down (as well as the mid-point of the ribbon & the 2 middle diamonds). The right upper wreath area is the first to show circulation on the reverse on these. Link.
The weakness in the feathertips & 2 diamonds on your coin may very well be strike. The first place to look very closely at is the lower hair curl, and then take it from there.
