You didn't ask for sarcasm, but here's some anyways....why in the HELL, if I consistently find steals on ebay using certain methods, would I be eager to give up those methods and create compitition for myself?

I found my ebay search methods by spending some time looking at steals, and basically trial and error on different searches. It took a while, but occassionally I still find some ludicrous bargain. Thats the best advice I can give you man.

Yes, I know a few tips

Search like on the sports trading cards directory-
for game used with 2 + color, sometimes typing- clr
like people that is terrible on the title's, like mispelled names, like quentin richardson- quentin richardsan or allen iverson-allan iverson-alan iverson-alen iverson
stuff like that

or search by newly listed, and find a card u want for a reasonable price that has no bids and ask the seller if he'd take $ whatever for it... I have made my last 4 buys like that
