baseball sucks, let 'em strike...

does anyone really care?

baseball is 'put-me-to-sleep' boring.. hell, i'd rather watch soccer.. it was once a great sport, yet now it lies at the bottom of pile.. i just don't understand why people are so upset? get over it..

1) the players are greedy - they make MILLIONS with NO salary cap, yet they b1tch about everything and anything possible..

2) we have found out steroids are common in MLB, which diminishes any value to records set or titles won.. it's pathetic to see professional athletes have to 'cheat' to be better.. there are no facts as of yet, but it doesn't matter.. the image of baseball players will always be tarnished, whether steroid testing happens or not..

3) they have the worse commissioner in the history of sports.. Selig, although not alone, has completely destroyed the game of baseball..

4) NFL is here.. this is the best sport in America, without a doubt.. with college football and the NFL right around the corner, baseball won't be missed one bit.. i'd rather watch NFL training camp practices than watch post-season baseball.. i'm sure i'm not the only one that feels that way..

the players have set a strike date for August 30.. wasn't this after deciding NOT to set a date just a few days prior? i'm glad this date has been set and i hope baseball stays away for awhile.. we'll be better off without it and the *greedy* players won't make any money, let alone more.. i sure as hell won't miss 'em and i hope none of u lose any sleep over it as well.. this sport has gone nothing but downhill and sadly, it doesn't bother me a bit..

break out your Sunday gear and turn on some football.. cuz the NFL is here and MLB is not..

  • Nothing major has really happened this season anyways to bring people to follow the sport. Last year everyone watched to see how many home runs bonds would hit and watch the phenom known as ICHIRO. This year, what has there been? Sure Shawn Green had his moment, and Sammy has had his, but has there been anything to keep the fans interested? Look at the number of HR's this year, it is way down from the past few seasons. The loss of McGwire, Ripken, Gwynn, and injury of Ken Griffey Jr. has taken away quite a bit from the sport. I totally agree and hope that the strike happens and in the end, the fans do something to put both of them in their places. I wish I could make the average player's salary of around 2.2 million to do something I love to do.

    and that it is..

but your boy Sosa is on steroids.. i don't need a test to figure that one out.. i can't stand the man.. him and his annoying little hand thing after he hits a 'fake' home-run.. what a loser.. it's kinda obvious when u say u will do anything to prove u are NOT on steroids, and then get MAD when u are asked to take a test.. lol and then, NOT TAKE THE TEST!!!! what a joke..

anyways.. enjoy your baseball man.. for 2 more weeks that is..

I will say one thing. It's the owners fault the players make so much money. They pay them and then whine about the pay scales. They don't need a sallary cap (that the players wont agree to). Just make an agreement between owners not to pay more than "this much" to any player. But they will never do that because the owners can't close their wallets when it comes to a good player. Someone like Texas that thinks signing one good player to a $hitty team will make them winners... if only ARod could pitch as well.

  • Baseball players are greedy (millions of dollars ain't enough? wtf?)
and how hard is it to take a steroid test? be honest with your fans.

by the way, basketball (college-give 110% all the time) is better than any other sports. imageimageimage

  • I don't watch baseball to just see homeruns. I can sit down and watch a full 9 inning game if some of my favorite players are playing. I enjoy watching baseball for baseball.

And Sosa was mad at the S.I. writer for the way he brought the whole situation up.
We will see when they start to do testing if anything comes up. And about that little kiss? Do you even know what that is about? It is a kiss to the people in the Dominican and a tribute to Harry Carey. What makes me mad is all the other wannabes out there doing the same thing when they hit a HR, just last night some guy on the Orioles did it.

it was an ESPN commentator, not an S.I. writer.. Sosa flipped out because after making a statement to make himself look good, he was challenged on it.. after realizing he had been 'called out' to prove himself right, he was angry.. hmmm.. i wonder why? this is where common sense takes over, something good 'ole Sammy doesn't have..

as far as 'the kiss', i don't care what it means, i think it's annoying.. why is he 'kissing' the people in the Dominican? and how is it a 'tribute' to Harey Carey? Sammy wants attention, the more the better.. he's as fake as they come in MLB and i'm sick of him..

Possibly...I just remember reading an article he wrote trying to justify what he did in S.I....but, whatever...I suppose it doesn't really matter....
  • What a surprise, the players set a strike date. I knew since monday that what they were saying was a total bunchof horse sh!t. You knew they were just prolonging the inevitable. The only reason why they didn't want to set a strike date was so just in case the owners gave in to them the public wouldn't have known they were going to strike and so it makes the union look good, like they will say "See, we are giving in. We didn't want to strike. We were able to work it out." that is exactly what they would have done and you all know it. All these people in the media who actually believed that monday was a big stepping stone to a full baseball season were morons. And of course they set the strike date for Aug. 30, 2 weeks before Sept. 11th. They are just ruthless. They set it before Sept. 11th so that it appears as if both sides are at fault that they couldnt get something reached. And also by setting it for that date they know the owners will be more likely to give in so that we can still have baseball on Sept. 11th. The players just don't know when to stop do they?

  • BTW: At least baseball will be gone so we can concentrate on the greatest sport ever created, FOOTBALL! Its nice they will strike right when my Packers will be ready to take the field for the regular season. I mean its not like the Brewers really took any air time away from the packers coverage, but at least there will be an extra 30 seconds now every newscast to talk about the packers which is alot better than hearing about how the brewers lost again.

Well, like I've said before...I don’t know the intricacies of being a millionaire, and I’m sure it’s tough, but give me a fu^king break here. You pay me $250 million over ten years for doing anything and it will be worth it. It’s not like a baseball game is 162 games of batters going up to the plate, then the pitcher taking a spiked 18-inch dildo and ramming it up their a$$ for three hours. It’s some dudes playing a game. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure it’s hard to hit a 90 mph ball seeing it’s hard for most of us to consistently hit a wiffle ball. Is watching some guy hit a ball worth that much to me? No. Obviously, it’s worth that much to some morons, but I guess it’s not enough. I don’t know what kind of fu^king labor problems you can have when you’re getting paid 6 million dollars a year. A labor problem is when you work 65 hours a week and get dicked out of your overtime pay because your boss is a fu^king a$$hole, NOT getting paid like $80,000 a game to sit and scratch your balls for three hours, then go out and party and get blowjobs from strippers. Play the game and get over it!

  • All of you are allowed to have you own opinions but I think you guys are morons. Baseball has and will always be America's pastime regardless. For someone to say things like let them strike, that is bullsh*t. Maybe you don't realize how much of an effect it will end up having. If baseball strikes it is a chain reaction starting with the players and owners that suffer going all the way down to the vendors that sell clothing to even your local baseball card shop. From the strike of 94 tons of baseball card shops ended up closing down cause they took such a loss, that and the internet as well. Half of you don't even know what the hell you are talking about, the interview was done by a sports illustrated writer as a matter of fact. Also for someone to say that college athletes always try their hardest, pull your head out of your A$$ and see the world. Think about all of the scandals recently where players are getting money and other perks, I know they are jsut trying to get by but don't justify all of that bullsh*t. I played both baseball and basketball at one of the largest highschools in San Diego so I got to know a lot of college bound athletes. Most of that stuff is all bullsh*t and people are always bribing them with stuff and it's a very dirty and lucrative world out there. I heard amazing stories about the type of special treatment they got their first year at school. Sorry to go off like this but I'm just tired of listening to all of you bit*h about this stuff. There are way too many teenagers on this forum that like to give their opinion about stuff they have no idea about. A lot of you were in preschool the last time there was a strike so you don't know anything at all. I know I'm going to hear a bunch of you bit*h and complain about this post but I really don't care. I really can't believe you want to see the players strike. Yes a lot of them are greedy but that has to do with their agents, the owners spending too much, and inflation of the past. They are entertainers just like everyone else, I think Arod is worth 25 million dollars a year for him playing 162 games with all his heart. When an actor makes 20 million dollars for producing a movie nobody complains about that, its always about how the players are greedy. Think about how much hard work and dedication it took them to get there, lets also remember that baseball players don't get the type of endorsements that basketball players do. Yeah I know a lot of players get their little bullsh*t commercials or whatever but not like basketball. Think about how much money Kobe makes a year from endorsements, it is amazing. Well all of you can sit here and bit*h and complain about baseball and act all pissed off about it but if you can actually sit there and want the players to strike you might be one of the biggest morons ever. Nobody cares about how many stupid posts you have in this forum cause all it takes is you writing your stupid letters TTT or other bullsh*t. Nobody cares about your references for trading your 2 dollars cards 50 different times. I'm really pissed about all of your stupid comments today on this matter. I am a nice guy but I can't watch you people say stupid things about the greatest game ever. I know there are plenty of other smart people out there that will agree with me on this issue though. That is all I have to say and I look forward to hearing all your childish responses.

Here’s the bottom line Major League Baseball. You’re all acting like a big bunch of pussies. Wipe it off and get back in the fu^king game. There’s millions of kids around the world who think Tiger Woods is cooler than you crybabies because you’re acting like 6 year olds. Kids don’t understand million dollar contracts, but they do understand being let down, as we are in the 21st century and most kids come from broken homes these days, so they know the feeling of heartbreak a deadbeat can give them and that’s what all you whiny fuc^ers are. Fu^king deadbeat athletes. Letting America down and letting the kids down. Good job, pu$$ies. Geez...it's sad.

image . I'm a moron because I think baseball sucks? Heehee... I think baseball sucks because it's boring. How can you argue that? Besides, I think every athlete is overpaid in professional sports. Even the base guys. I
just think there's too much money being tossed around. A lot of this money comes from me having to pay $50
or more if I want to watch a game in person. More comes from merchandise sales. If I want to support my team by wearing its logo, I have to pay $30 for a $5 tee shirt with a $2 iron on... What the? They make all of this money at our exspense. Every time I buy a pack of cards, I contribute to their pockets. Sure, I make the choice but they have their hands in everyones pocket. Yours. Mine. Whoever watches sports. I enjoy watching sports and maybe I always will, but you may be the true moron if you think these guys aren't ripping us off blind everytime they get a big contract...

why didn't u just put THiTo at the top of that before u typed it because it's pretty clear that was directed at me...

and if u wanna get technical, who's the one really b1tching and moaning... re-read your post after you're done whiping your eyes... baseball sucks and i doubt many people, other than u, consider it 'america's pasttime' anymore... the fact is that baseball IS boring - maybe not to u - but to A LOT of people who watch sports... who the fu^k are u to call us "morons" for not liking something... "I really can't believe you want to see the players strike." <-- well believe it because most of us do... give me ONE good reason why the players SHOULD strike... if u can, i'll reverse my stance... until then, u are full of sh!t just like them... the fact is, they have NO reason to strike, except for greed... and if greed is what motivates professional baseball players, then i hope baseball goes down the toilet forever... i sure as hell won't miss it... and i'm sure as hell nobody will care if u - the one and only - gregmadduxfan - miss it or not either...

"Nobody cares about how many stupid posts you have in this forum cause all it takes is you writing your stupid letters TTT or other bullsh*t. Nobody cares about your references for trading your 2 dollars cards 50 different times" <-- where did that come from? do u have problems other than the topic at hand? apparently people care of they wouldn't reply... do u think i care if u don't care? who are u?

and i find it amusing that u feel all non-baseball fans are NOT SMART... lol... by making that comment, i think u have it reversed...

to sum it all up, it was a nice post u made... it almost brought a tear to my eye and a warm feeling to my heart... like i said, almost... the fact is, u are the moron for making such an idiotic post... everyone has an opinion and if u don't agree with it, fine... but ask me or anyone else on this board if they care?
